DINKY TOYS THUNDERBIRDS

Our Dinky FAB1 and Thunderbird 2 models

Dinky Toys produced three toy vehicles from the Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds series.
These were: Thunderbird 2, Thunderbird 4 and FAB 1 - Lady Penelope's Rolls Royce. Thunderbird 2 and FAB1 are diecast metal models, Thunderbird 4 is plastic and fits into TB2's cargo pod.
As you can see from the photos of our Dinky Toys, these are good little replicas of the 'real' thing.

Lady Penelope's Rolls Royce - FAB1
Lady Penelope is an aristocrat and a secret agent. Like James Bond's Aston Martin, her car is loaded with handy gadgets, most of which are lethal. Lady Penelope's chauffeur, Parker is an ex-convict and a very capable henchman.
This is the Dinky version. As you can see, Dinky made a nice job of this model.

Here are the death dealing extras that come with Dinky's version Lady P's Pink Rolls.
There's a big missile that launches out of the front of the car - here the radiator is lowered ready for firing.
The four harpoons fire out of the rear light apertures, giving pursuers a nasty shock.
Both types of weapon are launched by pressing down on the front or rear of the car as appropriate. No unsightly buttons or levers.

Here's the Rolls from the side. Clearly seen here are the two sets of front wheels. Another notable feature is the way the front of the car slopes forward to give it a powerful, fast look.

Thunderbird 2 - the real star of the Thunderbirds series.
This was the craft that brought the rescue equipment - in a huge special cargo pod.
The diecast metal Dinky toy has swing down plastic legs to raise it above the ground after releasing the pod.

Dinky Thunderbird 2 - Another View
Here's a rear view of Thunderbird 2. Although this Dinky version is metallic blue instead of green, it looks great.
This is a very nice model.

Here the Dinky Thunderbird 2 has released the pod and is raised up on it's four retractable legs. In the series there were many pods available, each containing different vehicles and equipment.
Thunderbird 4's pod was, appropriately, pod '4'.

Here's the Dinky Thunderbird 4 - International Rescue's submarine.
It's approximately the correct scale and the right colour - pity there are no markings on it. As you can see, the pod door swings down to form a ramp.
