Aoshima

We review six diecast metal Thunderbirds vehicles made by Aoshima. Each comes in it's own window display box.

These toys are made of metal with some plastic parts. Thunderbirds 1 - 4 are about 3.25" long and Thunderbird 5 and the Mole are 3.5" long. Each has a display base bearing the vehicle's name. Although similar in size and finish to the Konami toys, these all look a little different. These differences probably reflect them being based on different studio models that were seen in the Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds TV series. Whatever the reason, these models are a little more chunky than their Konami counterparts, and being mostly metal, feel a lot heavier.Unlike the Konami models each vehicle comes in it's own specific window box.

The detail on these models is excellent as is the paint finish. The models also have the working features you'd expect in a quality model. It's a shame the Thunderbird 2 pod is plastic and Thunderbird 4 has no pilot figure, but aside from that I don't have any complaints.

A nice set of Thunderbirds vehicles that look good together as a collection. The metal construction adds a good deal to their appeal. The attractive window boxes make them ideal as presents.

Aoshima Thunderbirds Mole Carried in Thunderbird 2, this is a drilling machine for underground rescues.
The cradle can be elevated. Wheels and tracks move. The Mole can be detached from the cradle.
